The Symbolism of Solomon, the Preacher

“Is it time, O wisest Father?

Final king and Israel’s defeat?”

“Behold, Romans will come and take

Israel’s proud and royal seat.

Bondage is their future way;

Dancing; laughter flee the street.

Temples of gods defy Our Name,

Who against Us can’t compete!

And at long last, afraid and worn,

I, Israel shall entreat.

Then, be warned Mine enemies –

Useless are the strong and fleet!

“But before then, Lovely Son,

The wisest king will dwell –

The king who requested My knowledge

That He lead My people well.

And joyfully this I granted,

And his title thus will be:

Preacher! Wise King Solomon,

Son of David; a prize to Me.

He shall be a most beloved king,

Well renowned for wealth and sage.

His reign I bless with peacefulness;

His mind with shrewdness engage.

He will compose for Me My proverbs,

And his people adore his words.

They shall revel in their Preacher,

And never rely on warring swords.”

“So My Son, Thou art the Preacher!

Preacher of all Preachers before.

Thou deliver My Words to the lost,

And man’s sinful folly abhor.

As My Son, Thou art the wisest.

Thou will declare My truth to Poor.

All who listen are lifted up,

And those who hunger after more

Will receive the joy of living

If they receive Thy words, divine.

For if they accept Thee, Son and Only,

They are adopted as Child of Mine!”
