The Symbolism of the Kings

The Symbolism of the Kings

“But though My People look to man;

They shall all on Me rely.

For kings who trust in human strength

Will soon and surely die.

Why? Because, I Am the King!

It’s My Sovereignty I share.

I alone give Right to Rule

Though Rebellion they dare.

For, lo! King after King

Repeat the same mistake:

They worship man or foreign gods –

My Covenant they break.

Few are those Whom Me obey

But dear and blessed they are,

When they pledge to walk My Way;

Walk by Morning Star.

“Watch, My Son, each kingly reign.

Do they shepherd My people well?

They will be judged by this alone:

My Word do they love and tell?

Many a Monarch may live and die –

How closely doth He walk by I?

Ends his reign with people’s cry?

In fathers’ tomb be laid to lie?

Amongst these men, two held Me fast;

Two kings whose fame forever last:

Hezekiah, who receives special sign,

And Josiah, crowned as king, aged nine.”
