The Symbolism of the Kinsman Redeemer

“Is it time, Omnipotent Father,

My people to victory win?

Are we prepared to redeem them

And cleanse them from all sin?”

“No, My Beloved Child,

But an example I will raise!

A pattern to set for Israel

So they know I forge their ways.

Kinsman Redeemer, rise up!

Thou wilt save thy brother’s line.

Marry and provide for his widow;

Treat his child as one of thine.

“My Son shall deliver Our people;

They My sons rightly become.

He shall be the Kinsman Redeemer;

Betroth believers to My kingdom.

“So rise up, Boaz, there below;

Behold the Moabite, Ruth.

She is a sojourner in thy midst –

Why? Search out the truth!

She left her people; embraced thine –

Why? Because of love!

She loveth Naomi, Israel’s child,

And seeks the Spirit Dove!

For these, the words she spoketh well:

“Naomi, I’ll not leave thee!

Where thou goeth, I will go,

And where thou lodge, I’ll be!

Thy people shall be my people

Until the day I die.

And thy God shall be mine own

Till in the grave I lie.”

“There – her promise – that I heard!

And sweet it is to Me.

She’s included, My dearest Son,

In Thy lineage of royalty.

“Boaz, take her as thy wife;

Redeem her and have a son.

Name him Obed, and through his seed,

The king I anoint will come.”

“O, Ruth, thou gleaned from morn till eve,

And little rest sought thou.

Thou persevered through scorching heat

Till harvest turned to plough.

So My Son shall reap and glean

In the worldly harvest field

Until My people are brought to Me;

Their names in My Book, sealed.

Then My harvest is complete!

Mankind again be Mine,

To boldly approach My thronal seat

And declare, “I am Thine!”
