The Symbolism of Moses
“Is it time, Omnipresent Father?”
Asks the Holy Son of God.
“Is it time for My servant Moses –
The future bearer of My Rod?
He will lift up a pole in the desert;
All who regard it will be healed.
And so it will be with I
When My Day of Death is sealed.
I will be lifted for all to see;
My blood stream down the pole.
All generations, now and afar,
Turning to Me will be made whole.”
“Yes, My Son, Moses is born
Whilst Israel is in slavery.
His mother hides him as she dares,
But his cries are loud and wavery.
He will be discovered –
Jochebed arises; gladly heeds:
“In thine arms, take up thy son
And hide him in the River’s reeds!”
“My Son, I alert Pharaoh’s daughter;
She’s bathing in the river.
She hears an unmistakable cry
And seeks the squalling giver.
As she draws him out the water
She receives an idea for his name –
“Moses” – and holds him tighter,
Bearing him to Pharaoh to claim.
Jochebed, thine son thou grieve –
But a gift to thee I bestow!
Miriam, firstborn, run after them;
Tell of a nurse-maid thou know!
Be reunited and two years together,
Then to Pharaoh’s household he’ll go.
“Slaying; hiding a Master in sand,
He will flee to the desert land;
When escaping the Egyptian King,
A route he will learn to take,
That in future years he may bring
My people from Bondage’s wake.
I call from within a burning bush;
A bush alive with flame!
And there Moses hears My plan
And learns of My Great Name.
Pharaoh, I contend for My people!
Ten plagues I’ll bid to fall;
Ten times of disaster will prove
I Am Israel’s All in All!
“The tenth shall be the bitterest;
Every household suffer loss –
Just as I will lose My Firstborn Child
There upon the Cross.
Tonight, My Angel of Death visits –
“Steals each firstborn’s soft breath –
Unless smeared blood on the doorpost
Rests to deter such death.”
Yes, saved again by lamb’s blood.
Behold the pattern! Ne’er be blind!
Only ever can Man succeed
If He to My Son’s life will bind.
The Blood will signify which choice
The household has dared to make.
Have they chosen Me or sin?
This chance, O Israel, take!
Lead them Moses, lead them home –
I’ll guide by cloud and fire.
A new land is thine to inhabit
If I Am Israel’s sole desire!”
