Confusion
“Yet, again, Man’s pride will swell;
Above his limits, seek to dwell.
To My heavens he claims his power
By erecting a unifying tower.
“Defy God!” They cry together,
“We will not fill the earth as told,
But as one nation will remain –
Together we might be so bold.
We are greater; we dare to reign!”
Foolish! Can they rule their Maker?
One word, and they’d be slain.”
“Father, in mercy work again,
Though Evil is not allowed
In Our presence, a plan resolve
To scatter the greedy and proud.”
“Lo, so it will be, My Son!
How merciful art Thou!
I will break their unity;
“Conquer heaven!” they vow.
“Spirit, sweep them o’er with speech;
Confuse their language and tongue.
In this way they will fail to reach
My heaven; their task unsung!
How they scatter in panic and fear,
Seeking words they comprehend.
In groups they gather, one-by-one,
And o’er the earth they extend.
Their prideful plan I gladly rend;
This wild confusion will not mend –
For to My Will they would not bend –
So in this way I scatter and send.
Yet, from this disaster I intend
That from Abram Ye will descend.”
